WHATT IN PATTANI
23 February 2002

LEFT HADYAI  yesterday afternoon at 12pm and reached here at about 4.30 p.m. to be greeted by a heavy downpour. Had to wait until the rain abated before going to my place of accommodation. There is a  stark difference with this town compared to the other Thai towns. As it has a predominately Muslim community, mosques can be seen everywhere. The bus station is situated in the centre of the town. This morning, I took a stroll to the town and chanced upon an Internet cafe. Most of the towns in Thailand have Internet cafes but are usually used by kids to play computer games. By the way, Meung in Thai means Town and Mae Nam means river and if translated to Malay it will be Bandar Sungai Pattani. Will be back in Muar by late afternoon.
