Originally I wanted to go to Umphang from Maesot but after I made enquiries from a Canadian who runs a restaurant business with his Thai wife,I was a bit discouraged with the thought of going through 4hrs of buttock bruising journey along bumpy road. On top of that there was no way to continue to another town except to come back to Maesot. Thus I decided to make a trip to Kampaeng Phet (Diamond Kampaeng) |
Took about 3.5 hrs from Maesot. Spent about 2 hrs walking to the historical site and then back to the city. I'm really considering getting a digital camera in the near future. I think it can be rather handy like you said to attach photos so that you can all also view the pictures as I travel along the way. It's really rather interesting when you walk aimlessly. This morning I accidentally bump into a local Thai opera show performed in front of a small crowd | ![]() Tahi opera sketch in Kampaeng Phat. |

near the city pillar. Took a
few snapshots. Also yesterday while walking near the Burmese border I got
to witness a Dragon dance, hopping from shop to shop to collect "Angpows"
Tomorrow I will be taking a direct bus to BKK and slowly move all the way
back to HDY.
