BACKPACKING IN AYUTTHAYA
- DAY SIX

THURSDAY 26 JUNE 2003
From Sam's House in Kanchanaburi, we took an early Tuktuk (a pickup lorry) to  the Bus Station to get an express bus to Bangkok.  In Bangkok, to make sure that we did not miss our train to Ayutthaya, we took a taxi to Hualampong train station. That cost us 200 Bts whereas the train fare to Ayutthaya for all of us was only 60 Bts.

We checked in at Tony's Place in Ayutthaya and when everything was settled, we marched out to Wat Maha That. The ruin was majestic and the one that  interested me most was the stone image of Lord Buddha engulffed in the roots of a big bayan tree. Wat Maha That was built in 13th century but was burnt down and destroyed during a civil war in the early 15th century. We went to Wat Rachaburana which was near Wat Maha

That. It was only a stone throw away.
Wandered around a pasar malam and settled down for a bowl of Wantan Mee Khek-lang style with lots of bak choh topping.

At the Bangkok Railway Station.

Giving a span with my video cam.
Ah Whatt and me at Wat Maha That.
Rudy at Wat Maha That.
That's him again.
Spent the night at the one and only Supermarket in Ayutthaya before going back to
our Guest House. I bought a shirt and pair of shorts for my grandson, Ian.
